MISSION
In May of 2023, the U.S. Surgeon General, Vivek H. Murthy sounded the alarm noting that we are caught in an epidemic of mental unwellness post the COVID pandemic and listing ‘loneliness’ as a social concern with physical consequences equivalent to smoking cigarettes. Depression and anxiety are at all time highs in the current cultural climate across the globe. The data is alarming. Consider these statistics published by Mental Health America (MHA) in their ‘The State of Mental Health’ (SMHA), 2023 report:
21 % of adults are experiencing a mental illness - that is equivalent to over 50 million Americans; In the United States, there are 350 individuals for every 1 mental health provider; 28% of all adults with a mental illness reported that they were not able to receive the treatment they needed, most reported they did not receive care because they could not afford it; 55% of adults with a mental illness receive no treatment – over 28 million individuals; 23% of adults who report experiencing 14 or more mentally unhealthy days each month were not able to see a doctor due to costs; Even more alarming for our future generation, 60% of youth with major depression do not receive mental health treatment.
We do not suggest that we are able to replace culturally-humble mental health care from a licensed psychologist. But we do know that there are simply not enough mental health care providers to address the current need. Add the stigma of seeking mental health care that exists, and misconceptions about exposure and vulnerability. Adding to this dilemma of denial, sentiments regarding mental health care vary greatly among specific ethnicities and cultures.
Founder, Be Dismond Sweet knows because she has walked the journey personally. In addition, post the pandemic, she personally heard the stories from middle school students, high school students, students on HBCU campuses, teachers, veterans suffering from PTSD, survivors of domestic violence and those disenfranchised in toxic work environments. Be provided inspirational testimonials, wrote messaging to provide hope, and taught in person to large groups, and one thing became clear: the modalities of integrated wellness, specifically yoga and meditation gave folks a chance to take a deep breath and to bolster up their personal tool boxes for self regulation.
With more than 80 books translated into 43 languages including 22 New York Times bestsellers, Deepak Chopra, M.D., has been educating and teaching the benefits of meditation as a form of self healing since 1989. Be Dismond Sweet studied with Chopra at the Chopra Center for Well Being in Carlsbad, CA and received her meditation certifications there. She received her yoga teacher training certifications at globally recognized Yoga Works, Los Angeles, CA.
Healed Heir exists to spread the message of what is possible when you take ‘the big exhale’, and commit to self empowerment through integrated wellness. There simply are not enough therapists - nor access, nor funds, to not consider taking self care into your own hands. Healed Heir is a relevant conduit to exploring the exploding field of integrated wellness in all of its modalities.

OUR
PHILOSOPHY
"You must believe in something bigger than yourself - whatever that is for you. Start with self acceptance and then self care and self accountability. Practice meditative and prayerful reflection on what you can do for yourself first, as a better human in this world. Move your body. Choose yoga! Take a message from the bees -pollinate and make honey."

How HEALED HEIR
came to be
After decades of study and real time work in the fields of yoga and meditation, through hands-on application, conceptualizing creatively, writing and messaging impactfully, teaching, leading, and guiding by way of a prolific 40 year personal practice, and with plenty of hard work, Healed Heir came to fruition in 2024.
Healed Heir founder, Be Dismond Sweet, has a dynamic professional background in the service of hospitality, event production, and both corporate and nonprofit leadership at the executive level. Through her events career, Be successfully raised a daughter as a single mom with no local family, but plenty of beloved friends in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. Via her events career, she worked with three U.S. presidents, numerous municipal, state, and federal politicians, professional athletes and pro sports teams, as well as a plethora of high profile celebrities. She was an event planner for almost 400 weddings alone, and over 1,000 high profile and small intimate events. Her largest event as a principal planner, was for more than 4,300 attendees and included coordination with the U.S. Presidential Inaugural Committee (PIC), FBI, U.S. Park Police and the D.C. Metro Police Force. As a consultant, she was a leader in nonprofit management on a myriad of topics, specializing in the arts, and mental health and wellness.
Through her efforts in volunteerism, service and leadership, Be was recognized in Washington, DC 0n October 12, 2023 with a Visionary Award, by the illustrious and highly regarded Sitar Arts Center. In addition to this pinnacle moment, she has decades of accommodations and praise from the many entities she served. Her ‘North Stars’ for Healed Heir, are her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Samuel R. Dismond Jr., both of whom she lost tragically in 2021.
Be has spoken very publicly about surviving such loss along with several other life traumas, including managing PTSD post a near death experience (NDE) close-head-injury accident, as well as surviving domestic violence and divorce, through the modalities of yoga, meditation and with intermittent help from a few culturally-humble therapists. She has a consistent swerve to replace, “Why is this happening to me?”, by reframing situations with the potential of: “How is this happening for me?”
Post an almost two year stint being joyfully received across the nation as the inaugural ‘Director of Programs and Partnership Engagement’ representing a celebrity driven nonprofit organization in the mental health and wellness space, - Be knew the time had come to step up and amplify her own uniquely qualified voice. With open defiance against ageism, and the joy that comes with being proudly silver, Be Dismond Sweet is truly a ‘Healed Heir’ on a mission to spread the message of self care, self regulation and the mind/body connection, along with the importance of community service, kindness, respect, love, forgiveness and acceptance. Most importantly, starting with self.
